The text focuses on enhancement of personal competencies while providing a theoretical and experiential approach to the study of HRM. The author provides the conceptual background and content necessary to understand the relevant issues in HRM, along with individual and group exercises that require the application of the chapter content to specific problems designed to develop critical personal competencies.
Students "learn by doing" by participating in experiential exercises that require the application of HR knowledge expected of practicing managers and HR generalists.
New content includes: latest research on expatriates, equal employment opportunity laws, internet recruiting, gender wage differences, social security and pensions.

About The Author

H. John Bernardin is University Research Professor and the Adams Professor of Management in the College of Business at Florida Atlantic University in Boca Raton. He earned his Ph.D in industrial/organizational psychology from Bowling Green State University and is the former director of doctoral studies in I/O psychology at Virginia Tech. He is past Chair of the Division of Personnel/Human Resources of The Academy of Management.  He is the author of six books and over 100 articles related to human resource management.
